Laboratory Director, Richard Billups, has been involved in environmental microbiology for 16 years. Richard Billups has also performed analytical testing for the clinical, food, veterinary and pharmaceutical industries.
Richard Billups holds degrees in Animal Pathology, Molecular Genetics and Environmental Microbiology from the University of Vermont and studied mycology at the University of Syracuse and Louisiana State University. He has published papers on the recovery of Stachybotrys chartarum and case studies of an agar that he synthesized, Stachybotrys Selective Agar (SSA.) This recovery agar was patented in 2000.
Richard Billups has previously worked for three major environmental laboratories, acting as the Microbiology Laboratory Manager at the last two, AQS, Inc. and EMSL, Inc., both in Atlanta, Ga.
At Air Allergen Mold Testing, Inc., Richard Billups continues to be involved with indoor air quality issues that affect the health of the general public. Richard Billups is very interested in educating the public and other professionals with regards to indoor air quality issues. He is available for workshops and lectures to schools, churches, city governments and other interested groups. He has conducted workshops, and spoken at conferences throughout the Southeast for several years. He looks forward to continued service to the community.
